It’s Camping Season!

Pull out your lawn chairs and set up shop at a campfire under the pines, because camping season is here in Wisconsin Dells! Before Summer begins, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the brisk outdoors. There are an overwhelming number of lodging options in the Dells but one thing is for sure… camping brings everyone closer together!

You’ll have oodles of campground options in the Dells each offering a unique piece of the forest to enjoy. Many places offer a variety of camping options for visitors. Some enjoy the comforts of home while others enjoy diving into nature and getting back to the basics. No matter who you are, before you head out on a camping expedition this summer you should familiarize yourself with what options are on the plate!

Traditional Tent Camping

Traditional tent camping is for those who are looking to get closer to nature. Campgrounds often have a plethora of tent sites to choose from, and some sites are more secluded than others. When planning and packing for a traditional tent camping trip, lists are your best friend! Worried about how much and what to pack? We’re here to offer you some quick suggestions. Start with the tent and sleeping bags, be sure you don’t have any gaping holes and aren’t missing any tent stakes. Watch the weather reports on the days leading up to your trip, pack appropriate clothing, with layering options in case of chilly nights. You’ll need food & cooking supplies, a small first aid kit, bug repellent, toiletries, fire-making supplies, and a flashlight (for the midnight bathroom run… or tent shadow puppets, your choice)!

Tent camping can be as remote as you’d like, but weekend camping trips in the Dells keep you close to civilization for fun day trips and access to things you may forget at home! Try the Wisconsin Dells KOA Campground for your classic tent camping experience. Located just a mile from town, rates are as low as $38 a night!

Other great campgrounds that provide great tent camping are Baraboo Hills, Sherwood Forest Campground, Shangri-La Campground, and many more!

For a twist of fun, consider banning use of all electronics (except for cameras) on your tent camping trip to truly rely on nature!

Cabins

For those of you who would prefer to skip the tent camping experience but don’t want to stay in an expansive, sprawling hotel, think about renting a cabin for your Dells lodging experience! Many cabins come stocked with several reliable household amenities, but some of the same “what to bring” items apply to cabin camping. Cabins come in all shapes and sizes, and have a variety of included amenities. You get a little bit of nature with the comforts of home!

The Arrowhead Resort Campground has some of the most beautiful log cabins around! At Arrowhead, you’ll have access to a camp store, gift shop, 18 hole mini-golf, arcade/game room, basketball courts, geocaching opportunities, movies every weekend, and MUCH more! Plus, daily rates for their “Camper Cabin” start at just $58 a night!

Other campgrounds with comfortable cabins are Edge-O-Dells Resort, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, Al’s Fox Hill, and many more!

RV Camping

Renting an RV is a great way to travel in style and spend time with your family. If you are planning to bring an RV to town, the Dells offers many campgrounds with RV hook-ups.

Whether you are looking to get away for a day or reserve a site for an entire season, Holiday Shores has the RV hook-ups you’ve been searching for. With many campsites available to make those delicious nighttime s’mores, as well as boat rentals, a snack bar, wi-fi and 6 playgrounds, Holiday Shores is perfect for a fall getaway!
