Memorial Day, which became an official U.S. holiday in 1971, is always observed on the last Monday in May. It is a day to honor the men and women who have died while serving in the military. Many people spend the day visiting war memorials and loved ones who have passed. A lot of towns host a parade in memory of those who died and to thank all that have served.
Wisconsin Dells will be commemorating the holiday with events throughout the weekend. On Sunday, May 26th, Spring Brook will be hosting their annual “One Club” Tournament. Each player selects one club to play with over the entire 9 holes! The cost will be $10.00 for Spring Brook members and $30.00 for non-members. Keep in mind the last day to register is Saturday, May 25th.
The neighboring town of Reedsburg will host a parade in collaboration with the VFW on Sunday, starting at 9:40 am beginning at the Sauk County parking lot on 6th street. Following the parade will be a ceremony held at the Greenwood Cemetery on Myrtle Street at 10:00 am.
For the Dells, Memorial Day weekend also marks the beginning of the summer season! The water slides will flow again, theme parks will open their gates, and the tour boat engines will roar to life. Hopefully the sun will be shining and everyone can enjoy the kickoff to the long awaited summer months.
Most of the hotels and area attractions offer Memorial Day weekend specials making it the ideal time to visit the Dells and get yours and your family’s summer started in the best way! Everything will be fresh and green just like the grass covering the campgrounds, which will also be offering holiday deals. Arrowhead Resort Campground not only has a discount on their pricing but will be including 4 passes to Noah’s Ark Waterpark. Resorts such as Baker’s Sunset Bay have similar package deals with passes to Kalahari’s waterparks, food gift certificates, and Tommy Bartlett Show tickets.
So, whether you choose to spend your weekend splashing in the water parks, getting your thrills on high-speed roller-coasters and go-karts, or strolling through downtown, Wisconsin Dells is the best place to spend this upcoming Memorial Day with unbeatable prices and the most epic start to your summer!
