We get it! Summer’s over and we’re all trying to recover our budget before the holiday season. Believe it or not, there are plenty of great things to do in the area where you don’t have to empty your wallet to have a great time. Below, you’ll find some areas of interest as well as some attractions where you can let loose and have a good time. Keep in mind that at few of these attractions, the little ones are a cheaper price or sometimes free!
1) Riverwalk
This is free of charge for everyone! Located on the 100 block of Downtown Wisconsin Dells, this 1/4 mile path overlooks the Wisconsin River and offers gorgeous views of the boats below!
2) Stroll along Downtown Dells
You’ll find shops, candy stores, and places to enjoy a great meal when you walk up and down Broadway in Downtown Wisconsin Dells. Be sure to stop by Duchess Plaza on the corner of Broadway & Oak Street in Downtown Wisconsin Dells and get a picture by the Duchess Boat, which has been beautifully decorated for the fall season.
3) 18-hole Mini Golf at Kalahari Indoor Theme Park
Rates start at just $5! Open to the public, this mini-golf course features two water holes and a 35ft waterfall! When you’re done, explore the other fun activities at the Indoor Theme Park.
Located in Downtown Wisconsin Dells, Chalet Lanes features 12 different bowling lanes to enjoy for just $4.00/game! While you’re bowling, be sure to enjoy one of their delicious burgers or an order of cheese curds.
5) Wollersheim Winery & Distillery
Tours of Wollersheim Winery start at just $8 and tastings are only $5. Although Wollersheim is a little ways from the Dells, we think it’s the perfect day-trip to visit as a couple or with the girls!
6) Country Bumpkin Farm Market
Country Bumpkin Farm Market is a great place to bring the little ones this fall. Especially since the corn maze only costs $3/person! Follow your way through the maze while answering trivia clues on how to escape! Be sure to pickup a pumpkin to take home after you escape the corn maze!
Open year-round, this exploratory is a full hands-on learning experience. There are over a dozen exhibits to explore at this “science center” such as the Bridge of Fire Exhibit, Virtual Sports Center, and even a copy of the Russian Space Station Mir! Rates start at $12
Now this one is only budget-friendly if you make it that way. I tend to spend around $10 in the Penny Slots which lasts me about 20 minutes. I use the rest of my time to admire the beauty of the whole Casino and Resort. Ho-Chunk Gaming in Wisconsin Dells is currently undergoing a $40M renovations to their hotel and casino!
9) Mr. Marvel’s Ghost Haunting Tour
This top-rated Wisconsin Dells attraction starts after dark with a brief history of the Wondertorium, which is located in the old Landry Funeral Home. Then the tour departs as a walk through Downtown Wisconsin Dells with your guide armed with ghost-hunting equipment. Tickets are $12/person
Learn about the natural history of Wisconsin Dells and what originally brought visitors to the area when you visit the H. H. Bennett Studio. For only $7/adults and $3.50/kids, you can interact with the same tools used by the famous photographer, best known for developing an instant photo and capturing his son, Ashley leap over Stand Rock.
