One of the best things about fall (besides picking apples and drinking pumpkin spice lattes) is making memories with your family. That’s why we asked our favorite local tour guide, for the best family-friendly spots in the Dells to visit this fall. Just one thing to note: our tour guide’s name is Harper, and she is two years old.
All Aboard the Pumpkin Train!
Harper loves the Riverside & Great Northern Railway Pumpkin Train, because passengers age 12 and under get to pick a free pumpkin or gourd! It’s happening every weekend in October, and on Saturdays, there will be two trains operating, a food truck with a variety of treats, and plenty of activities for you and your little pumpkins.
Produce, Playgrounds, and a Petting Farm, Oh My!
Country Bumpkin Farm Market is Harper’s one stop shop for all her family’s fall faves. They’ve got tractor “train” rides, a petting farm, slides, swings, playhouses, musical instruments, ride-on toys, and of course a farm market for all your fresh produce! This attraction definitely has Harper’s stamp of approval.
Apple Overload
Harper says it’s actually not possible to have too many apple things this time of year. And Ski-Hi Fruit Farm has them ALL. We’re talking apple pies, apple tarts, apple cider, apple butter, caramel apples, apple cider donuts, and you know, apples. Plus a petting zoo, which is Harper’s favorite.
Where the Wild Things Are
The Oschner Park Zoo is another spot on the top of Harper’s list, just outside of town in Baraboo. They have over 30 species of rescued and rehabilitated wildlife and a playground too! Bonus: they are open all year round and admission is free!
A few more things Harper says you should try with your family this fall:
- Say “Oh Deer!” at the Wisconsin Deer Park
- Experience exotic animal encounters at Timbavati Wildlife Park
- Jump around at Knuckleheads Trampoline Park
- Fool around at Tom Foolery’s
- See all the cool cats & kittens at Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue
Harper hopes that you’ll take your little ones to some of her favorite places for some fall fun with your family this year. If you do, share your favorite photos and memories with us using the hashtags #visitwisconsindells, #wisdells, and #wisconsindells for a chance to be featured on our social channels! And don’t forget to check back often to see what else we’re up to this season!
