Family and friends of all ages look forward to that first big snowfall, which turns on the green light to bundle up, break out the sleds, and head to the sledding hills. Bowman Park – Located at the end of Broadway, Bowman Park is a spot for visitors and locals to enjoy festivals, picnics, a playground, a basketball court and other outdoor sports in a wide, open space. The park itself slopes downward making it the ideal sledding location. Parents can relax knowing that they’re kids will be safe and everyone will love all the different sledding options. Within walking location of many of the downtown hotels and right across the street from Mobil, where piping hot cups of hot chocolate await, Bowman Park is an unbeatable place to go sledding.
Devils Lake – For sledding with a view, head to Devils Lake. A stunning, expansive lake surrounded by high cliffs and tall pine trees; this is the perfect spot to snap a group photo, before or after the sledding madness ensues. The hill is located by the nature center on the north side of the lake. Devils Lake is also a gorgeous park for snow-shoeing. So if sledding isn’t your thing, you can take in the natural scenery while participating in another great outdoor winter activity. It’s also dog friendly so the entire family can enjoy the snow, Fido too!
Mirror Lake – Close to many of the waterpark resorts, Mirror Lake is a 2,179-acre state park. The park reflects Wisconsin’s natural beauty in the sandstone cliffs, heavily wooded areas and smooth, glassy water. When you grab the sleds, don’t forget to pack up the ice skates! After sledding, continue to enjoy the cool, crisp air by lacing up those skates and claiming a patch of ice. There’s also cross country ski and snowshoeing trails. Don’t forget a thermos of hot apple cider, with all these exciting winter time activities, you won’t want to head indoors anytime soon!
