Gliding on the ice with your freshly sharpened skates, you feel the cool wind painting your cheeks a rosy red. As others fly past you, you feel the rush to catch up and it makes you fall. The cold pain of the ice on your bottom creates a little embarrassment, but as you get up, you’re grinning from ear to ear.
Ice skating is the perfect solution if you’re looking for a great family activity. Ice skating is a fun, athletic activity that can help improve your balance. Now is the perfect time to take advantage of skating and there’s no better place to take a glide on the ice than inside the Poppy Waterman Ice Arena in Lake Delton.
Open skate is usually Wednesday’s & Sunday’s and the Ice Arena’s website has the most up-to-date information regarding skate times. Please check the website before skating. With skating sessions only costing $3.50, ($2.50 for children 12 and under), as well as skate rentals available for only $2.50, ice skating is an inexpensive way to glide through the day.
The Poppy Waterman Ice Arena also hosts the Dells Ducks Junior Hockey team on their NHL full-size Hockey Rink. The games are a great way to support teams that come from all over the country, Canada, and Europe to play hockey. Grab a hot chocolate from the concession stand and watch the Dells Ducks Junior Hockey team play on most Friday and Saturday nights or Sunday afternoons.
The ice arena is also home to the Lake Delton Skate Club. The junior skaters will present this year’s show on Wednesday, April 12th.
Poppy Waterman Ice Arena also features a Pro Shop. The pro shop offers skate-sharpening as well as other skating accessories. Pick up your own professional hockey stick or purchase your own pair of ice skates.
Take a break from the waterpark and bring the family to open public skating at the Poppy Waterman Ice Arena, located at 112 Miller Drive in Lake Delton.
