Devil’s Lake

Not only does Devil’s Lake offer the best hiking in the Wisconsin Dells, it may offer the best hiking in the entire Mid-West. The east side of the lake offers trails including the .5 mile Group Camp Trail, .7 mile Grottos Trail, and more. For the most challenging hikes in the area, and the best views, check out the South Face Loop or the figure of 8 loops. The Devil’s Doorway on the south face of the East Bluff offers some exceptional vistas. Devils Lake, about 15 miles from Wisconsin Dells is a must visit location for those who enjoy hiking.

Mirror Lake & Rocky Arbor State Parks

If you enjoy wooded areas and well-marked trails for the entire family, visit the trails of Mirror Lake and Rocky Arbor State Parks. These trails are very well taken care of and put you in the midst of the best of what Mother Nature has to offer. The air is fresh, the trails are relatively easy to navigate and hiking here will be a relaxing, enjoyable experience.

Wisconsin River Hiking Areas

There are multiple areas along the Wisconsin River that offer views of the river while hiking. Be sure to visit the Pine Island State Wildlife Area down river, south of Wisconsin Dells. Even further down river, you’ll find the Ferry Bluff State Natural Area with hilly hiking opportunities with river views.
