The Dells may not seem like an ideal destination this time of year but you’d be surprised with how much there actually is to do. Both indoors and outdoors, these activities will have you thrilled to spend a day or two in Wisconsin’s greatest tourist destination!
Outdoor:
Spending time outdoors is important and healthy, even as temperatures start to drop. This is actually a fantastic time to hike around The Dells. The sun is still glistening off the water of The Wisconsin River, Devil’s Lake and Mirror Lake; combine that with the existing fall colors and the perfect exercise weather and you have a gorgeous and endorphin inducing hike! (Check out our previous blog for more details.)
Discover Wisconsin recently named Wisconsin Dells as “Wisconsin’s Most Beautiful Fishing Destination.” They also said one of the best times to fish here is September 1st through November 30th. It’s not too late! Whether you’re a fishing fanatic or just looking for a fun new activity to try, soak up the last of the down jacket free weather and head to The Wisconsin River. Happy fishing!
Indoor:
Go-karts and mini-golf of course! While these are normally summertime activities, The Dells has multiple indoor mini-golf courses and go-kart tracks so you don’t need sunshine to enjoy them. For the mini-golf champs, check out Wilderness Resort, Kalahari’s Indoor Theme Park and Wild Fun Zone downtown. If high-speed racing is more your thing, head to Knuckleheads or Kalahari’s Indoor Theme Park.
Bowling around The Dells is awesome! Whether you’re looking for a relaxed family-friendly zone or something a little more competitive, we’ve got you covered. If you’re out and about with the family or friends, try Kalahari’s Indoor Theme Park, or cosmic bowling at Chalet Lanes and Knuckleheads for a glow-in-the-dark bowling experience that’s out of this world. For serious bowlers, Chalet Lanes has leagues taking place every day and Knuckleheads hosts leagues Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Obviously going to the movies is an ideal activity this time of year. At Desert Star Cinema at Kalahari, you can enjoy family flicks to terrifying horror films, sweet romantic comedies to action packed cinema masterpieces; some of the year’s best movies come out around the holidays. Perfect for families, couples, friends or all of the above, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a good film while sharing a big bucket of warm, buttery popcorn as the snow falls outside.
Music lovers, this one’s for you! Between Crystal Grand, Ho-Chunk Casino and all the acoustic friendly bars, The Dells has a pretty sweet scene for bands and musicians. For a more laid back atmosphere where you’ll find unique and possibly local performers, check out bars such as Showboat, Baja Cantina and Marley’s. Wisconsin Dells might be a small town but Crystal Grand and Ho-Chunk Casino pull in some well-known names. For upcoming performances and tickets head to: http://tickets.crystalgrand.com/ or http://www.ho-chunkgaming.com/wisconsindells/promos-events/entertainment.html.
The Dells may be known for its’ splashing good time but it doesn’t need waterslides to be a hotspot for fun! Here, you can make memories year round as there is always something to do for all ages and interests.
