Another Successful American Cancer Society Benefit!

Over the weekend Marley’s Caribbean Club hosted a benefit for the American Cancer Society. This Celebrate Life event brought out hundreds of supporters and cancer survivors all working toward one goal, raising money in the fight against cancer. Along with great music, ZUMBA, a buffet, live auction and silent auction the day was a lot of fun for all those in attendance!

“We have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over time and we’re looking to do some more!” says Chairman Doug Clausen, also a cancer survivor, who has been involved with this event for over 10 years. Owner of Marley’s and the Reef, Jeff Morris, knows that everyone out there has probably had someone in their lives affected by cancer but, “This is a great way, locally, to generate extra money to fight for this cause.” He goes on to say “They are now generating close to $60,000 for a one day event and that’s pretty awesome!”

Area sponsors stepped up with a lot of great donations and raffle prizes. Attendance was spectacular with many of the kids enjoying the bounce house activities, large sand beach, and mice races.

The Kilbourn Fire Department and Lake Delton Fire Department provided “dunkees” for the dunk tank challenging each other that whichever department raised the most donations then the other would have to wash their firetruck!

If you missed this years benefit be sure to mark your calendar for the 8th annual event which will be held at the same place in September, 2013.
