Tailgating Treats in the Dells

If you’re a true sports fan, you know that tailgating doesn’t always mean following your car too close to someone on the road. The atmosphere and anticipation before a big game is a feeling like no other. Throwing some brats or burgers on the grill, scooping some of ma’s homemade potato salad, and slicing some pimento cheese is enough to give me the chills and wish I was in the parking lot throwing a baseball around.

You don’t need to travel to a stadium to get the delicious food and one-of-a-kind taste that tailgating offers. Here’s a list of some spots in the Dells to taste some grilled favorites and even catch a great baseball game:

At The Brat House Grill, you’ll find an assortment of brats, hot dogs, burgers, a full bar, and enough TV’s for your viewing pleasure. My 2 favorite things on the menu are the Wisconsin Cheese Brat, stuffed with cheddar cheese, and the German Brat Burger, served on a pretzel bun with Brown Dusseldorf Mustard, mushrooms, sauerkraut, & melted cheese! Try making one of those by yourself on the grill! If you’re not up for the challenge, be sure to stop at Brat House Grill.

Besides sandwiches, burgers, soups & salads, Hot Dog Avenue is home to the staple tailgating food…can you guess?…Hot Dogs! If you’re curious what a Chicago Dog, Green Bay Dog, New Mexico Dog, or my favorite, the Georgia Dog is, you’ll find out when you see the 11 different types of hot dogs available with delicious Vienna Beef at Hot Dog Avenue.

Have you ever heard of a Tailgater Burger? It’s a beer-cheese burger topped with a Johnsonville bratwurst, chorizo baked bean sauce, and raw onion. Where can you find this masterpiece? At Wisconsin Brew Pub! This restaurant displays the craftsmanship and theme of a true brew pub! My favorite appetizer here is the Crock Pot Cheese Fondue, served with steamed veggies and pretzel bread.

Since they opened their doors in 1947, Monk’s Bar & Grill has been serving their mouth-watering Original Monk’s Burger and satisfying people’s hunger for the past 68 years. If you’ve never had one, you need to try one ASAP! This light and juicy burger with a smooth toasted bun is one of those foods that you get random cravings for. I’d eat one every day if I could!

As you can see, you don’t need to be parked in a stadium lot to get some delicious tailgating food. No matter what sports season is, I hope you’ll be able to try a few of the above restaurants on your next visit to Wisconsin Dells.
