Wisconsin Dells Trolley Services are a great way to experience getting around the Dells. This summer, they’re expanding to offer unique themed tours that cater to your “taste”. One of the tours is The Full Winery Experience! I had the pleasure of attending this tour, and let me tell you, it was great! I’d recommend it for friends visiting the Dells, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and anyone who wants to have an afternoon of fun!
The tour started at the pickup location, Bobbers Island Grill! I got to Bobbers a little bit early so I could have a drink beforehand. There was a group of girls visiting from out of town, and it turns out they were doing the Trolley Tour as well. When the Trolley pulled up, we all got on with our drinks and were given an itinerary for the day. It listed the different wineries we were stopping at as well as the included lunch! You’re allowed to bring your own drinks and snacks with you on the trolley to have between stops, so I brought a little cooler. I would highly recommend bringing a wine bottle opener with you, because after I purchased some bottles at the different wineries, I wanted to enjoy a bottle on the Trolley!
Our first winery stop was Baraboo Bluff Winery. We were given a card for a free tasting, but I upgraded for $2 and was able to get a full-service tasting and even keep my glass! The view was incredible! It overlooks the Baraboo Bluffs and you’re able to see the landscape for miles! We tasted reds, whites, award-winning wines, and even fruity wines that would taste great on a hot summer day. My favorite was called “The Girlfriend” which is fruity and has a hint of mango flavor. Needless to say, I picked up a few bottles on my way out!
When we got back on the Trolley, we headed to the included lunch, which was at Trappers Turn Golf Club. They had a whole buffet set up for us which included a gourmet salad bar, hot sandwiches, and cheese quesadillas! Non-alcoholic beverages were included with lunch. Other beverages were available for purchase. After a great meal, we got back on the Trolley and headed to our next winery.
After a short drive, we arrived at Burr Oak Winery. The winery’s first grapes were planted in 1997 and the stained-glass windows within the winery came from an old church over 100 years ago! At Burr Oak, we sampled both red wines and white wines. My favorite was the Castle Rock Red which is a semi-sweet table wine! After a while, we got back on the Trolley and headed to our last stop!
We arrived at Fawn Creek Winery, just north of Wisconsin Dells and were greeted by the employees eager to give us our tastings! We were in a private room, and were told a short bit about each wine before given a sample. My favorite was the Razz-Prairie, which is a raspberry flavored Pinot Noir! After our tasting, we walked around in the beautiful woodsy setting of the winery and picked up some bottles in the gift shop. Everyone on the tour was given a free wine glass!
After the tour, we were dropped off back at the starting location, Bobbers Island Grill. I would absolutely recommend this Full Winery Experience Trolley Tour. We stopped at 3 different wineries surrounding the Dells, enjoyed a gourmet lunch, and even learned a few facts along the way.
