Water park season may still be months away, but it’s never too early to get started on those fitness goals. Whether your New Year’s resolution involves building muscle, improving flexibility or losing that unwelcome holiday weight, you’ll find plenty of fitness options in and around the Wisconsin Dells. The key to fitness success is finding a routine you enjoy — and sticking to it! After you’ve enrolled in classes or invested in a membership at one of the Dells’ top fitness locations, you’ll quickly realize that maintaining an exercise routine is far easier than you’d have ever suspected.
Fit & Fabulous
Created with the female fitness enthusiast in mind, Fit & Fabulous removes the usual athletic center pressures and allows members to focus on their own unique goals, free of judgment. The studio replaces standard group classes with one-on-one training, targeting the full scope of health and wellness. Specialized services offered through Fit & Fabulous include nutrition coaching, strength training, prenatal fitness, balance training, exercise-based rehabilitation and yoga instruction. Highly-qualified professionals work directly with members to develop targeted fitness resolutions and then provide the training, expertise and motivation necessary to ensure goal completion.
Dells Dance Center
The primary focus at the Dells Dance Center may be on ballet, tap and jazz dance instruction for kids and teens, but there are also plenty of opportunities for adults. Feel free to drop in for one of the Dells Dance Center’s many hatha yoga sessions. These range from sixty to ninety minutes in length and are designed to offer a combination of physical and mental development for all ability levels. If, during your dance studio visit, you realize that you’d really like to recapture your long-lost dreams of dancing up a storm, consider also enrolling in one of the center’s adult courses. Tap, ballet and jazz are all offered — and all three can help you to reach your fitness goals!
ERIKAJ GO FITNESS, LLC
If you’re obsessed with Latin-inspired aerobics but on the hunt for a new challenge, try taking a class with local Zumba master Erika Gerhardt. One of the Dells’ most popular certified Zumba instructors, Erika teaches in a variety of locations in the region, including UW Baraboo, the West Kindergarten Center and Marley’s ‘On The Dance Floor!’ Always eager to encourage participants of all abilities, Erika continually updates her playlist with hot new tracks and challenging choreography that can easily be adapted to meet the beginner’s needs.
House of Wellness
Although it’s located in Baraboo, a trip to the House of Wellness is definitely worth the twenty minute commute! Operated by the Ho-Chunk Nation, this fitness facility welcomes visitors from all backgrounds, regardless of ability level. Many of the House of Wellness’ most challenging classes take place in the aquatic center, where participants can successfully maintain those resolutions while exploring everything from Aqua Jog to the very unique Aqua Zumba! Other class options include Cycling Express, Power Hour and Core Essentials. Those who prefer to pursue fitness outside of the class setting will want to check out the treadmills and elliptical machines in the fitness center, as well as the facility’s state-of-the-art racquetball courts.
Wisconsin Power Athletic Club
Each year you begin January with the best of intentions, but quickly find yourself bored with the usual treadmill and weight lifting routine. Perhaps it’s time to motivate yourself by actively engaging in athletic competition. The Wisconsin Power Athletic Club allows you to do just that, offering easy access to a number of volleyball and basketball leagues. This organization maintains locations all throughout the state of Wisconsin, although residents of the Wisconsin Dells and Baraboo area are advised to stick to those found in Dodge County and Sun Prairie.
From volleyball and racquetball to Zumba and yoga, there’s a Dells-based fitness solution for every age, ability and set of interests. This year, you can finally achieve that ambitious New Year’s resolution — all you need is a fitness approach that keeps you excited enough to participate all year long. Think carefully about your athletic interests and then make the jump into a healthier lifestyle! The best part is that you can stay healthy and fit even while on vacation by dropping in any of these classes or fitness locations anytime!
