How Sweet It Is…

Calling all candy lovers! When you’re on vacation and your taste buds have a craving, where do you go? If you’re looking for some ideas, then read on. With candy apples, fudge, gelato, homemade chocolates and more, here’s my pick of where to satisfy your sweet tooth in Wisconsin Dells.

Goody Goody Gum Drop isn’t just a candy store, but an attraction within itself. When you walk in to either of the 3 locations, you are overwhelmed with the site of over 1,000 different types of candy of all colors, shapes, and sizes. Goody Goody Gum Drop features homemade chocolates, gummies, fresh fudge, gelato, gift baskets and more. Goody Goody Gum Drop is located in Downtown Wisconsin Dells, inside the Wilderness Resort, and at Timbavati Wildlife Park.

When strolling down Broadway in Downtown Wisconsin Dells, there are quite a few fudge shops you’ll come across. Be sure to stop at the Dells first fudge shop, Original Wisconsin Dells Fudge. They use the same old-fashioned recipes to create their fudge as they did when the store first opened in 1962. Original Wisconsin Dells Fudge has over 24 fudge flavors to choose from! My favorite is the peanut butter marble fudge! The shop also features dipped chocolates, nut brittles, popcorn, salt water taffy, and more! Original Wisconsin Dells Fudge has 4 locations in Downtown Wisconsin Dells.

With over 90 different flavors of Cheesecake, Cheese Cake Heaven is my next pick of where to find a sweet treat in Wisconsin Dells. Cheese Cake Heaven uses the freshest ingredients and home makes each batch of cheesecake to ensure that it’s made with the best quality and care. I would recommend stopping by and tasting a frozen piece of cheesecake on a stick or taking home a fresh cheesecake and be the family hero!

The Sweet Hut, located inside Kalahari Resort, is home to a large assortment of fresh caramel apples, homemade fudge, chocolates, and other goodies. Their Turtle Pretzel Rods are a must-try when visiting Sweet Hut. Because the surrounding Kalahari Resort is African-themed, a lot of the chocolates at Sweet Hut are too. My 3 favorites would be Elephant Tracks (dry roasted peanuts, homemade caramel, milk and white chocolate), Cheetah Chews (soft, buttery caramel) and Hippo Hugs (delicious homemade caramel surrounded by crispy rice krispies, then dunked in rich Ambrosia chocolate!)

Kernel Popcorn’s Factory in Wisconsin Dells features a wide variety of delicious gourmet popcorn. You can either stick with favorites such as cashew caramel popcorn and white chocolate cinnamon popcorn, or you can be adventurous and try peppermint patty popcorn, or even champaign popcorn! The list of gourmet popcorns available at Kernel Popcorn’s Factory is now up to over 60 varieties. I’ll occasionally stop by for a bag of cheezy ranch popcorn.  Kernel Popcorn’s Factory is located at the corner of Hwys 12, 13, & 16.

Have you ever had a Cow Pie? No, I’m not talking about the kind that comes from a live cow! The Baraboo Candy Chocolate Factory and Outlet is home to The Original Cow Pie, a delicious treat with rich chocolate, creamy caramel, and fresh pecans. Just a short drive away from Wisconsin Dells, I enjoy the different types of Cow Pies they have, like the Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate. Besides Cow Pies, you’ll find assorted fudge, old-fashioned candy, and good ole Wisconsin themed chocolates!

Whether you’re looking to grab an afternoon treat or a delicious dessert, you’ll never find a shortage of sweet treats in Wisconsin Dells. Looking for a guilt-free excuse to indulge yourself with the tasty desserts listed above? Many of them offer valuable coupons that can be found on dells.com or in our 2015 Coupon Book!
