If you’ve stepped foot in downtown Wisconsin Dells, you know it’s home to a variety of exciting shops, fantastic eateries and fun attractions. We’re excited to announce some possible changes to downtown Wisconsin Dells within the next 3-5 years!
The Wisconsin Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau hired Roger Brooks of Roger Brooks International to develop a plan to bring new life the Wisconsin Dells downtown area. Recently, members of the Wisconsin Dells business community gathered to hear Brooks’ plan for taking the downtown Wisconsin Dells experience to the next level. “The downtown needs a focus”, Brooks said, and his goal is to create an entertainment district, THE place to celebrate, shop and dine. Brooks made 43 recommendations that would take until 2018 to complete. The proposed plan for expanding the downtown area adds a plaza, a public market, and two story-parking garages to the already booming downtown area!
The plaza would allow for programming 200 or more days the year, a built-in sound system, movie screen, splash pad and skating rink. It could also act as a site for art shows, concerts and other entertainers. The public market would have programming year-round with events open to the public. He also suggested an amphitheater near the river, a two-story parking garage, a trolley service to large resorts and a plan to lengthen or add turning lanes to improve downtown’s traffic flow. Read the entire plan here.
We are extremely excited to announce the proposed, downtown project to the past, present and future visitors to Wisconsin Dells! Big changes are coming… a refreshed downtown Wisconsin Dells. Stay up-to-date on the latest Wisconsin Dells updates with our Dells.com blogs, Twitter and Facebook.
