Doggy and Me Exercise Class

Those “dog gone workouts” can be a pain but you know your dog needs daily exercise in order to be healthy and happy, and so do you, so why not do it together? New this year to Wisconsin Dells, Pet Retreat will be offering a Doggy and Me Exercise Class for an hour of fitness catered to both of you. The classes will take place in their brand new, state of the art, training space! Not only a great workout, but also a wonderful bonding experience, both you and fido will feel fantastic after this class!

Run by local personal trainer and fitness guru Charmaine Gary, the class begins with a few warm up laps in order to get your body ready to workout and to take care of some of that pent up doggy energy. Next, the pups get to relax as you pamper them with a little massage. Don’t get too relaxed because soon its back to work with dynamic floor warm ups! Next up are stations that will include things such as: ladders, pull-ups, push-ups, jumps, weave poles, bosu balls, stepladders, and more. Cool down with another puppy pampering massage and a stretch session and voila! The hour will fly by for both of you.

The class is designed for not only duo doggy and owner fitness but to hone basic dog-training skills as well. Pet Retreat’s dog trainer Pam Collar will be in attendance at every class to help with dogs who might be struggling to listen or don’t quite understand the commands. So even if fido is acting feisty, you can feel assured that you’ll both still get a great workout.

If you’ve never attended a doggy and me workout class before or think you’re pup might need a little extra training beforehand, you can attend the intro class. This course will also be an hour, maybe an hour and a half, and will consist of going over basic training commands and a lighter workout to prep both of you for the main class.

Once the weather warms up, classes will also take place outside for some stations in the spring sunshine! Examples of outside station additions include the hoop and laps outside. Plenty of water breaks will be taken throughout the class regardless of the season, so be sure to bring a water bottle for yourself as there will be water dishes provided for the dogs. They also ask that you bring a mat for you and one for your dog, along with a leash and treats.

The first class session will run from March 6th through March 27! March 6th will be the intro class and will run from 7-8:15 p.m. The following classes will take place on the 13th, 20th, and 27th and will run from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m. The price for the first session is an incredible deal at only $45.00. Don’t miss out on a unique and fun fitness opportunity for both you and your best friend! For more details on Pet Retreat head to: www.pets-retreat.com.
