It is only year two for “Kilbourn City Live,” a block party-style music festival staged in downtown Wisconsin Dells, Wis. and already the promoters are living up to their promise to be a showcase for up-and-coming stars with today’s announcement they’ve signed Anderson East to perform. This one-day, free event with no ticket required is Saturday, Sept. 30. East will take the stage at 5 p.m. with the evening headliners to follow. For the full schedule of performers, CLICK HERE!
Just earlier this month, East made his debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” performing his new single, “All On My Mind.” The song is Top 20 and climbing. East got an assist on the song writing from Ed Sheeran and others. Rolling Stone wrote, “…sounds like pure East. Marching along with stabs of strings and swells of electric piano, ‘All On My Mind’ is a showcase for East’s rugged, raspy vocals as he ponders his obsession with a rule-breaking woman.” East has been busy touring as part of Chris Stapleton’s “All-American Road Show.”
The release of “All On My Mind” follows East’s widely praised debut album, “Delilah,” which NPR Music called “an eclectic, fully formed debut.” East made his television debut on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
According to Joseph Leute, one of the founders of Kilbourn City Live, the moment they listened to East’s earlier hit “Satisfy Me” and then “All On My Mind,” they were intent on signing the rhythm and blues star.
“We’d been reviewing lots of performers, and East’s sound stood out instantly, plus he embodies everything we envisioned for this festival – a showcase for talent on a meteoric rise,” said Leute.
Kilbourn City Live kicks off at noon, with the music running until 11 p.m. Festival-goers will find an artisan and farmers’ market a new addition to the event this year, running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A beer garden with microbrews and food concession stands featuring area restaurants will be set up directly adjacent to the staging grounds at the corner of Broadway and La Crosse St, with free brats and beer for those showing their military ID at the front gate.
Wisconsin Dells is coming into its own as a music destination, thanks to Kilbourn City Live and regular live music offerings at Showboat Saloon, Ho-Chunk Gaming, and Monk’s at the Wilderness. Earlier this month, nearby Mauston was the site of the first “Los Dells” Latin music festival,” attracting some 30,000 fans according to the organizers.
Kilbourn City Live is presented by Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells and supported by the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau and with a marketing grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. The name of the festival has historical significance, as Wisconsin Dells was founded in 1857 as Kilbourn City.
