Event Details
A festive celebration of autumn, Wo-Zha-Wa Days is filled with free family activities, including an arts and crafts fair, antique flea market, Maxwell Street Days, live entertainment and a 100-unit parade. Enjoy great food from service clubs and downtown restaurants, visit attractions and the street carnival.
Come celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of autumn with the Wisconsin Dells Wo-Zha-Wa Fall Festival! Although the Ho-Chunk word “Wo-Zha-Wa” has different meanings for everyone, it means “to have fun”—and that is exactly what you will get at this family favorite event. As one of the largest festivals in all of Wisconsin, Wo-Zha-Wa is a three day extravaganza with delicious food, a 100-unit parade, rousing live music, and arts and crafts that everyone can enjoy.
Wo-Zha-Wa’s flea market always has new novel items to check out including gourmet dog treats, hand-made works of art, custom pieces of jewelry, organic cosmetics, and wood flowers made before your eyes. You can stroll through all these different stalls while chowing down on some of the festival’s favorite culinary treats, like kettle corn and alligator on a stick.
The whole family can enjoy themselves at Wo-Zha-Wa. The yearly Wo-Zha-Wa parade is a spectacle filled with floats, performers, and music that fills the entire street. The carnival rides are always a hit with the kids, who always get a thrill on the rides’ twists, turns, and spins.
The festival holds Wisconsin’s oldest long-distance race in history: the Wo-Zha-Wa Run. Runners can take part in the challenging half-marathon course, or the fast-paced four-mile run. For over 40 years, community members of all ages have been pounding the pavement together in the brisk autumn morning, before joining their fellow Cheeseheads in a weekend packed with activities.
Every year, Wo-Zha-Wa brings together the local community with friends and family for a weekend filled with adventure and laughter. The excitement that fills the streets of Wisconsin every September is what keeps this festival so memorable for families year after year. It is free to go to the festival, so there is no reason why you shouldn’t go to this Wisconsin favorite!
All activities located in Downtown Wisconsin Dells & Bowman Park.
Stay tuned for updates, free spectator admission!

I would like to arrive Sep 17 evening and stay until AM Sep 20.
I would like information regarding a reasonably priced place to stay for 1 person that is close to the arts & crafts fair and easy to get to the location to board a boat for the river tours. I would like to take both the upper and the lower Dells tours.
Could you offer some suggestions please. Thanking you for your help.

Hello Gwen! Wisconsin Dells offers a great variety of places to stay. If you’d like to be close to downtown and the events going on for Wo-Zha-Wa, I’d suggest a hotel and motel on Broadway. Please call each specific business for individual rates. You can find a complete list of the Dells lodging options here: https://www.dells.com/stay/

Looks like a fun event! Who provides the carnival/amusements? I was wondering if they would have the “cranes” game where you turn the crank and try to pick up an item. I love that game but it is hard to find nowadays.
September 6, 2016
Hello Monte,
We are not 100% sure which exact games and rides will be present this year. Wo-Zha-Wa is always a fun time! We hope to see you there!

I am an author and illustrator of children’s book from Wisconsin Dells. I will be doing a book signing and art demo during the Wo-Zha-Wa Festival. It will be hosted at the Paint It Pottery shop in the upper Dells. I will be there each day from 10:00AM till 5:00PM. How can I get the signing included in the events calendar?
July 26, 2017
Hi Janet,
On our Events Page, we typically only include the larger events given to us by the city. Hope this helps!

Hi Patty, There are tickets or wristbands to purchase for the rides. I apologize we don’t know the prices in advance, however they will be posted downtown. There are many rides, including a carousel, teacup ride, a swing ride, and many more.
