Established in January of 2001, the Wisconsin Dells Municipal Court has jurisdiction over traffic and municipal ordinance violations in the City of Wisconsin Dells. Initial Appearances. The Initial Appearance session of court is for the purpose of entering your plea to the alleged violation. The court will inform you of the charge against you and you will be requested to enter a plea of guilty, no contest or not guilty. Juveniles 16 years and younger charged with a non-traffic violation are required to make an Initial Appearance. Juveniles have the right to a confidential hearing. |
| Guilty Plea | If
you enter a guilty plea, you are admitting that you committed the
offense and a penalty will be imposed. |

| No Contest Plea | If
you enter a no contest plea, you neither admit nor deny the charge,
but rather you you do not wish to contest the charge. The effect is
the same as a plea of guilty with the exception that you are not admitting
to any civil liability. |

| Not Guilty | If you enter a plea of not guilty, you deny committing the offense. The court will notify you in writing of your trial date. | |
